Susan Jacobsen
Susan Jacobsen is a practicing artist on the Northern Rivers NSW. Her marks and rhythms tell of emotional response, reacting to the ever shifting landscapes of the region. Tidal surges, flotsam and jetsam, staccato mangrove growths, changing water surface tension, and extraordinary light variations are a constant source of fascination. Drawing remains central to Susan's practice. Responses are rapidly expressed and further explored through collage, painting and sculpture. Working with developing surfaces, marks are haphazardly scrubbed, etched and floated. The site abstractions are both direct, immediate and unrestrained, yet fluid, lyrical and considered.
